Following a recipe out of a cookbook isn’t a problem, but most days I want to boil an egg or roast a chicken. The last time I looked, there wasn’t a cookbook that taught how to boil an egg or roast a chicken. Not even the ones marketed to college students living on their own for the first time.

Now, in all fairness, my mom probably did teach me this when I was growing up, but my forgetfulness means I’ve called her many times over the years asking, “Do I put the eggs in before or after the water boils?”

In searching through writing resources, for myself and for my clients, I see that the same kind of “first steps” cookbook for writers is missing. That’s why I’m offering this brand new, LIVE workshop, “How to boil an egg: The essential guide to writing for beginners”.

On June 16, 2021, at 7 pm CST, I’ll walk you through the essential decisions everyone makes when they start a new writing project: from whether to write chronologically or out of order, whether to outline first or not, how to know which characters should have a point of view, and more.

If these questions, and more, are stopping you from writing the story you want to write, then this workshop is for you.

I won’t just answer these questions, I will teach you how to make these decisions every time you start a new story.

You know that you have life experiences that need to be shared with the world. It is time that they are. It doesn’t matter if you are writing for yourself or looking to get published. If you are writing short stories, novels, poetry, memoir, or anything else.

You have a story inside you that needs to be written down. It is time.

But hey. I see you. And I know what you might be thinking.

Maybe you’re thinking: “I’m not a writer.”

Or you might be wondering: “If I only want to write this for myself, should I even bother writing it at all?”

Or you’re thinking: “What if I have other questions?”

First off, take a deeeep breath, my friend. Because these are pesky mindset blocks all signs that you BELONG inside this workshop.

I’ll prove it to you. Let’s unpack those fears one by one.

First, if you don’t believe you are a writer, I want to consider the following:

You don’t have to be. In fact, you’re probably not, at least not yet. Though the dictionary says a writer is someone who commits their thoughts to writing, or someone who writes or is able to write. This workshop will answer the questions you have so that you can put your thoughts and ideas, your stories, in writing.

You might be thinking that a writer is someone who writes books, articles, poetry, etc. as a profession. If that were you, then you wouldn’t need this workshop.

Now let’s look at that second fear: wondering if it is even worth the effort to write down the story inside you if you are writing it only for you.

When you write, you preserve your memories, thoughts, ideas, and imaginings. Writing can help you make sense of your own thoughts and feelings you’re your understanding of the world around you and your place in it. Fundamentally, at the very core of the act of writing, of putting your words, thoughts, ideas, imaginings onto the page, is always for your benefit.

And now let’s talk about that third fear: what if you have other questions?

Well, my friend, I hope you will!

Inside this LIVE 90-minute workshop, complete with PDF workbook, I’m going to specifically address the following:

  • To outline or not to outline before you start writing
  • Do you need to know the beginning, middle, and end before you start
  • Writing chronologically v. writing out of order
  • How many characters should have a point of view
  • Getting that first sentence and the first page just right
  • Where the story starts and where it ends

And I’m also going to open up the discussion for your questions. Whatever questions you have, whatever is getting in your way from writing, bring it to the workshop and let’s talk about it!

So now the only question is: will you say yes?

Are you ready to know how and when to make the decisions you need to make when you’re ready to sit down and write that story?

Then let’s get your questions answered!

For just $27, you can get your questions answered AND have the tools to make these decisions one time or every time you want to write!

I promise: this writing stuff is not as hard as it seems. But let me prove that to you!

Click here to learn more about the workshop and enroll – and I’ll catch YOU on June 16, 2021. And yes, if you can’t make it Live, I will record it for you! Because you will have life-time access to this workshop and material.

Until next time…

From outside on my sunny patio… Happy Writing!
